Tidak ada yang aneh dari jacuzzi ini selain fakta bahwa ternyata mereka bisa menembus waktu dan kembali ke masa lalu menggunakan jacuzzi ini. Kini keempat pecundang ini mendapat kesempatan kedua untuk memperbaiki hidup mereka yang berantakan.

Film ini diangkat dari novel karya Frank Miller. Bercerita tentang pertempuran kuno Thermopylae di abad ke enam, di mana Raja Leonidas (Gerard Butler) dan 300 tentaranya, berjuang mati-matian melawan Xerxes dan tentara Persianya yang jumlahnya ribuan.

Akhirnya Raja Leonidas memutuskan untuk menghadang pasukan Persia dengan 300 tentara Spartan pilihan. Ke 300 pasukan Spartan ini begitu tenang manghadapi musuh yang sangat banyak itu, hari demi hari mereka lewati dengan semangat juang mereka demi mempertahankan wilayah mereka.

Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) tak pernah ingin meninggalkan teman-temannya namun karena ibunya harus pindah ke Beijing maka tak ada pilihan buat Dre selain pasrah. Sebagai pendatang baru jelas masalah yang dihadapi Dre tidaklah mudah. Selain harus beradaptasi dengan lingkungan baru Dre juga masih harus berhadapan dengan para berandal di kota yang baru ini.

Saat berusaha untuk beradaptasi, Dre sudah dihajar habis-habisan oleh para berandal sebaya Dre yang rata-rata punya kemampuan bela diri tinggi. Dre hampir putus asa dan ingin kembali ke Amerika namun itu semua berubah ketika Dre bertemu Han (Jackie Chan) yang berusaha mengubah cara pandang Dre.

Han meyakinkan Dre bahwa satu-satunya cara untuk menghindar dari teror ini bukanlah dengan cara melarikan diri tetapi dengan menghadapinya. Dengan bantuan Han, Dre mulai mempelajari ilmu bela diri untuk melindungi dirinya dari ancaman para berandal yang tak pernah membiarkan Dre hidup tenang.

Mungkin seharusnya film ini mengambil judul THE KUNG FU KID. Judul itu akan terasa lebih relevan karena ilmu bela diri kung fu memang yang jadi 'masalah' dalam film ini. Sayangnya judul tak akan 'menarik' karena film ini memang dibuat sebagai remake dari film berjudul sama yang sempat populer di tahun 1980-an.
